Market Close | Stock Market Highlights: By the second half of the trading session, the benchmarks had remained under pressure, with no signs of a sustained recovery. The Nifty had fallen more than 140 points, slipping below the 24,200 mark, while the Nifty Bank had declined nearly 900 points, dropping below the 58,000 level during the day. HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Axis Bank had emerged as the top laggards.
Market Close | Stock Market Highlights: The Nifty50 and the Sensex ended lower on Monday as bank and financial stocks dragged the benchmarks, while investors assessed tensions between the US and Iran.The Sensex declined 443 points, or 0.57%, to close at 77,708.52, while the Nifty50 fell 96 points, or 0.39%, to settle at 24,238.50.
Axis Bank, HDFC Bank and Maruti Suzuki India were the top losers on the Nifty50.In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap 100 and the Nifty Smallcap 100 indices gained 0.6% and 0.16%, respectively.
Among sectors, the Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Financial Services indices were the worst performers, while the Nifty Pharma and Nifty PSU Bank indices ended with the strongest gains.
