Specialist MGA Hive Underwriters has launched a global property D&F business, expanding its underwriting operation into a new class. The launch adds property to Hive’s existing specialty underwriting classes, which include aviation, marine, war, political violence and terrorism, and space.
The London-based MGA has appointed Richard Brown as head of property to lead the new operation. Brown joins from Sompo, where he was head of UK and international property. Brown will build a new underwriting team focused on writing a global property D&F portfolio. Hive said the new class will combine specialist underwriting expertise with data, analytics and proprietary technology, with a focus on risk selection and portfolio performance.
