Jason Hardman has been appointed head of UK valuations at Avison Young.
Mr Hardman will lead Avison Young’s UK valuations division, advising clients across lending, investment and development, while continuing his work on professional standards at a number of industry bodies.
He previously spent 20 years at CBRE, most recently as head of its UK living sector, and stepped down from the commercial property agency in July. He led CBRE’s loan advisory valuation business and grew its living-sector valuation team to more than 70 people.
Mr Hardman sits on the governing council of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, where he will continue to hold the valuation seat until the end of 2027.
He was the technical author of the RICS Red Book professional standard on valuing build-to-rent.
George Roberts, president of UK and Ireland at Avison Young, said: “Jason is one of the most respected figures in UK valuation, having played a key role in both setting professional standards and in leading the evolution of valuations in our industry.
“He also brings proven commercial expertise, an extensive contact book, as well as an inherent understanding of the needs of both investors and lenders. I am pleased to welcome him to the team and we all look forward to working with him.”
Mr Hardman said: “Every major lending, investment and development decision depends on a valuation, so the quality, consistency and context of that advice matters enormously.
“Avison Young is a highly professional and respected business with a clear strategy for growth and I am very much looking forward to playing my part in helping the team achieve its ambitions.”
In other living-sector appointments, this week Sayyam Mughal was named chief executive of Prosperity Vita, a for-profit affordable housing provider owned by a Birmingham developer.
