Inside Jerry Hall’s battle for historic Oxfordshire mansion

The supermodel and Celebrity Traitor’s star owns two properties in the county, one in South Oxfordshire and one in West Oxfordshire.

The American model bought the home with media mogul Rupert Murdoch in 2019 for about £11.25 million.

She reportedly kept the home as part of their 2022 divorce settlement.

The property is called Holmwood House and is a Grade II-listed Georgian mansion in Binfield Heath, near Henley-on-Thames.

It features 11 en-suite bedrooms across approximately 14,200 square feet, 26.6 acres of land, an infinity pool, a sauna, a tennis court, three separate three-bedroom cottages within the estate, and gardens.

More recently, reports have described the mansion as containing artwork, including one of Andy Warhol’s portraits of Hall hanging in the dining room.

Hall’s wealth is estimated at £53 million and stems from her supermodelling and acting career, high-profile breakups, and art transactions.

The 1999 breakup from Mick Jagger resulted in a settlement between £11 and £17 million, while her 2022 divorce agreement from Mr Murdoch included significant cash payments and property assets.

However, it was not Holmwood House that was the source of the local controversy.

The real contention lay with Great Tew Manor, a historic house in West Oxfordshire, purchased by Hall and Mr Murdoch in 2020.

The couple intended to restore the derelict mansion, reportedly at a cost of about £30 million.

This project became contentious due to a planning permission agreement for the nearby Mullin Automotive Museum at Enstone Airfield.

Under this agreement, about £11 million would be allocated towards restoring the manor.

Local residents voiced their objections, arguing that the money should benefit the broader community rather than a privately owned estate.

This led to numerous objections lodged with West Oxfordshire District Council.

Born on July 2, 1956, in Gonzales, Texas, Hall, now 70, was raised in Mesquite, Texas.

She moved to France at 16 to pursue a modelling career after her father lost their family home in a poker match.

From being discovered on a beach in Saint-Tropez, she rose quickly in the fashion world.

By 1977, she was gracing the covers of magazines such as Vogue and Cosmopolitan and commanding high modelling fees.

After her split from Jagger, Hall embarked on brief, high-profile affairs with film producer George Waud and London businessman Tim Attias.

She was in a long-term relationship with Australian property tycoon Warwick Hemsley from 2006 to 2012.

In March 2016, Hall married Rupert Murdoch.

The marriage lasted six years before Mr Murdoch initiated divorce proceedings in mid-2022.
