While in attendance, the man fell and was fatally injured.

He received treatment from officers prior to the arrival of paramedics, who later pronounced him dead at the scene.

The man’s next-of-kin is aware.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

A mandatory referral has been made by Kent Police to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

The death comes days after a man in his 20s was found with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds in the town.

Police, paramedics and the air ambulance were called to Acacia Walk at around 8.50pm on Thursday (October 8) to reports of a serious assault at a property.

The man was taken to a London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police arrested two men on Thursday evening, and two further men were arrested yesterday (October 9) in connection with the incident.

All four suspects remain in custody.

Yesterday, residents living near the incident told KentOnline how they remain unsettled and fearful to leave their homes.
