Plan revealed for new house in back garden in Upwell

Plans have been submitted to West Norfolk Council to develop the land behind a property on School Road in Upwell, near Downham Market.

The plans include demolishing an existing timber shed and extensions to the drive to create space for two cars to park.

A planning statement said: “The proposal is for a single bungalow, ensuring no overshadowing or overlooking.

“This site is well set within the village of Upwell with parking on site.”

The plot sits next to the Upwell conservation area, though the bungalow itself would be outside of it.

Previous plans for two new homes on the site have been reduced to one after discussions with planning officers.

The proposed bungalow would be 3m from the nearest neighbouring property.

Trees on the site would be retained, while the site is described as being at low risk of flooding.
