Where Will Harry And Meghan Live In The UK? From The Cotswolds To Northamptonshire, The Locations Tipped For Their Return

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to move back to the UK later this month, the BBC has reported.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who relocated to the US in 2020 after stepping back from royal duties, will return to Britain as non-working royals by the end of August and live in a private residence just outside of London.

Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are enrolled to start at a British school in September. It is expected that the children will attend a co-educational day school rather than a boarding school.

But where will Harry and Meghan live in the UK?

While the exact location has not been publicly revealed for privacy reasons, Home County locations tipped for their return include the Cotswolds or Northampton. Below, we look at where the Sussexes might choose to live:

Within easy reach of London, yet far enough away to offer a quieter pace of life, the Cotswolds could be a strong contender for the couple’s move back to the UK.

The Cotswolds is situated close to the King’s Highgrove Estate in Gloucestershire, making it an ideal location for private family visits.

It’s also already familiar to the couple. Before their wedding in 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a two-year lease on a £2.5 million, Grade II-listed farmhouse in the Cotswolds.

Over the years, the area has become increasingly popular with celebrities and famous faces. Drawn by the area’s privacy, prominent residents past and present include Jeremy Clarkson, David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, and Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi — a long-time friend of Meghan.

Northamptonshire is also thought to be under consideration, with Althorp Estate — Princess Diana’s childhood home and final resting place — located nearby. The Sussexes stayed at Althorp during recent trips to the UK, with Harry maintaining a good relationship with his Uncle, Earl Spencer.

It is under two hours from London, which makes it the perfect place for a quieter life in the countryside.

Berkshire

Frogmore Cottage, located half a mile from Windsor Castle, was the married home of Prince Harry and Meghan before their move to the US. While there are no plans for them to return to the cottage (it has been empty since they left), the couple could choose Berkshire as their new home.

It’s a familiar place to the couple and offers vast countryside for raising their two children.

Surrey and Oxfordshire

Boasting some of the best schools in the Home Counties, Surrey and Oxfordshire have also been rumoured as potential locations for the Sussex family.
