Hannah Cain, a GP who is known professionally as Dr Hannah Terry, has been named by people who live in Dersingham, the village where her body was found.
The victim, who is aged in her 40s, is believed to have been a mother with young children.
According to reports in the village, it is understood other children were staying at the house at the time of her death.
It is also understood that they had to be taken back to their parents in the middle of the night by police after officers were called to the scene shortly after 2.20am yesterday (Sunday, October 4).

Police were called to a property in Fern Hill, Dersingham, a large village next to the Sandringham estate, by the ambulance service.
A cordon was subsequently put in place outside the property, and the access road has remained closed today with police cars still in attendance.
A murder investigation has since been launched, and a man in his 40s remains in custody at King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre after being arrested on suspicion of murder.
Ms Cain is believed to be a GP who was working at Grimston Medical Centre on Congham Road in King’s Lynn, which is expected to be shut for the rest of the day due to “extremely difficult circumstances”.

A spokesman for the surgery said on social media: “We are sorry to let patients know that Grimston Medical Centre, including the dispensary, is temporarily closed due to extremely difficult circumstances affecting our practice team.
“We apologise for the disruption and appreciate your patience and understanding at what is a very difficult time for our colleagues.”
She also worked at Norfolk Sky Aesthetics, a cosmetic treatment company.
One man who lives nearby said: “It’s really quiet around here; the whole village is.
“You read about things like this in the press but you don’t think they’ll happen this close to home.”
Another local person said: “This is a really quiet village which is why I moved here.
“It’s the sort of place you can leave your car unlocked overnight.”

A woman was also seen laying flowers outside the property, while a man said: “It is just tragic, goodness me.
“I can’t believe it.”
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing, and a superintendent’s extension has been granted to allow for an additional 12 hours of questioning.
