‘Occasionally unusual lots of this kind do become available’
It’s one of the strangest pieces of property on sale in Plymouth – a cliff face.
An L-shaped parcel of land in Turnchapel is going under the auctioneer’s hammer in a sale which ends next month.
The Barton Road plot, which extends to about 0.23 hectares (0.56 acres), is known as Turnchapel Cliff.
But how much the waterfront land will sell for is anyone’s guess as there is a nil reserve guide price.
Turnchapel Cliff is among 143 lots listed by Clive Emson Auctioneers, with the online auction concluding on May 7.
Interested applicants may view the cliff face on site during reasonable daylight hours ensuring they do not cause disturbance to neighbouring residents.
Auction appraiser James Lofthouse said: “Turnchapel was historically a shipyard and is now a residential area with a marina which serves as a key transit point, offering a ferry service to Plymouth and Mount Batten.
“This cliff face land has now become available at auction with a nil reserve price.
“Occasionally unusual lots of this kind do become available and attract interest from bidders for a variety of reasons.
“We look forward to seeing how this lot performs at auction in early May.”
