Fidelity Investments Canada ULC announces capping of Fidelity Global Small Cap Opportunities Fund, including its ETF Series (ticker: FCGS)

TORONTO, Oct. 14, 2026 /CNW/ — Fidelity Investments Canada ULC today announced the closure (also known as a “soft cap”) of purchases by new investors into the mutual fund series of Fidelity Global Small Cap Opportunities Fund (the “Fund”) and a cap on the creation of new units of the ETF series of the Fund. These changes are expected to take effect on or about December 11, 2026 (at close of business).

The decision is intended to preserve the integrity of the Fund’s investment strategy and support its continued effective management for existing investors. Fidelity regularly reviews its investment products and their capacity to ensure portfolio managers can continue to execute their strategies effectively over the long term. No action is required by investors. Those who already own mutual fund series and/or ETF series of the Fund will continue to do so.

The caps may be removed at Fidelity’s discretion if further Fund capacity becomes available.

Mutual fund series investors

As of December 11, 2026, the mutual fund series units of the Fund will be closed to purchases by new investors. Existing investors may continue to make additional purchases in accounts that already hold mutual fund series units of the Fund. However, purchases into accounts where mutual fund series units of the Fund are not currently held, even by existing investors, will not be permitted after December 11, 2026.

The mutual fund series units of the Fund will remain available to other funds and accounts managed or advised by Fidelity, and to existing mutual fund series investors, including: (i) those with systematic purchase and exchange programs; and (ii) new purchases by any discretionary client account managed by a portfolio manager licensed to engage in discretionary trading on behalf of its clients where the mutual fund series units of the Fund are already held within the discretionary model portfolio or asset allocation program or other similar investment product prior to the close of business on December 11, 2026.

ETF series investors

As of December 11, 2026, ETF series unit creations will be closed, and no new ETF series units will be available. The cap on creations is not expected to affect existing unitholders’ ability to sell their ETF series units in the secondary market.

Additionally, investors may continue to purchase existing ETF series units of the Fund in the secondary market. However, market liquidity, bid-ask spreads and market prices may differ due to the limited supply of outstanding ETF series units, which can lead to the ETF series units trading at a premium to the net asset value (NAV) per unit. As a result of this potential premium, Fidelity does not encourage the purchase of ETF series units given the cap on creations.

The distribution reinvestment plan (DRIP) will be terminated after 30 days’ notice is issued to relevant parties. Plan participants will be notified through CDS Clearing and Depository Services Inc. (CDS).
