Investing in students’ futures through entrepreneur and media center in Clinton County

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — A big plan was unveiled underneath a black sheet outside of Bentley Hall on Commonwealth University Lock Haven’s campus. 2017 graduate Nicholas Subich is making a $1.75 million donation to renovate Bentley Hall into the Nicholas Subich Center for Entrepreneurship and Media.
“I wanted to put all of the tools that the students would need to build their own brand, build an online company, an online business, a service business, market a product, market themselves, I wanted to put that here and make it accessible for them,” said Nicholas Subich, YTS Wealth and Management President / CEO.
Entrepreneurship and Media Center students will soon be able to make their own podcasts, using a content-creating and recording studio to develop skills that could help jumpstart their own brand or business once they graduate.
“Today, attention is everything, everyone is spending eight hours a day with their eyes glued to a screen,” said Subich. “You wanna put yourself and your business on that screen, so this center is going to give the students and any entrepreneur in the community the ability to start maximizing that.”
Of the $1.75 million, $1 will go towards renovating Bentley Hall, and another $750,000 will go towards funding a faculty position.
“Recently, we were given a $1 million estate gift, and that was all cash that came in right away, much like Nick’s gift. This isn’t a gift made of promises, it’s a gift made of investments now, and so it’ll represent $2.75 million for this project,” said Jeffery Osgood, Commonwealth University President.
Commonwealth University President Jeffery Osgood tells us the investment Subich made will set up students for success in their future endeavors.
“Students from all disciplines, all majors love creating content, whether that be for their businesses or just how they communicate themselves to the world, so there’s going to be the media center that’s gonna allow students from all across the campus to create amazing content,” said Osgood.
The project is expected to start in the summer of 2027 and will take two years to complete.
