Melania Trump’s “Fostering the Future Together” initiative unveils new tech partnerships

WASHINGTON (TNND) — First Lady Melania Trump spoke about her initiative, “Fostering the Future Together,” on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday in New York City.

According to the White House, Fostering the Future Together is a global coalition of first spouses and other leaders focused on using technology, such as artificial intelligence, to support children’s education and protect them from potential online dangers. The initiative aims to bring together tech companies and governments to develop tools for students, train parents and teachers and expand access to new learning opportunities.

Trump announced new partnerships with major technology companies, including Intel, Google, Amazon and Zoom.

She stressed the importance of investing in technology in education to empower youth.

“True empowerment begins by giving a child the confidence to believe that their mind has value,” Trump said. “It means giving children the freedom to imagine a world beyond the one they know today.”

According to a news release from the Department of State, the first lady’s initiative has secured many new investments.

Among those investments are $4 million that Google is committing to expand the Google AI Educator Series and $2.75M in new grants from Zoom that will go toward the initiative as part of their broader AI for Good commitment.

Trump also promoted multiple Fostering the Future Together conferences taking place across the world in the coming months. In December Trump said she will host the initiatives first G20 event in Miami.

The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz joined Trump and said she could become one of the most accomplished first lady in history.

“She is not satisfied with advocacy for advocacies sake,” he said.

In concluding her speech the first lady said that leaders will be remembered by what they do, not the meetings they have.

“Let history say at the moment of extraordinary possibility, leaders from around the world came together to foster the future together and chose to out children first,” Trump said.
