Sunil Mittal net worth: Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Mittal is one of India’s first-generation billionaires in the telecom space. Apart from revolutionising that space, Mittal also heads real estate mogul Bharti Real Estate and Hospitality. With global ventures and investments, this billion-dollar group is commonly known for Airtel.

With operations across 15 countries, Airtel is among the top three mobile operators in the world. The Padma Bhushan awardee has also been conferred an Honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE). Airtel has over 600 million customers and competes with players like Mukesh Ambani’s Jio and Kumar Birla’s Vodafone Idea.

Securing a $1 billion investment from Google, Bharti Airtel further cemented its name in the telecom space. Mittal’s Bharti Global has a significant and strategic investment in the UK’s BT Group with a 24.5% stake. Sunil Mittal is also India’s fourth richest person, as per Forbes, and ranks among the top 140 billionaires of the world.

Telecom tycoon’s real estate empire

The extensive real estate operations under the Bharti group are led by Sunil Bharti Mittal and the larger Mittal family as part of Bharti Enterprises. The dedicated real estate arm has over 5.5 million square feet of premium commercial projects much as a 51% stake in Worldmark Aerocity, Worldmark 65, Airtel Centre, and Pavilion Mall.

Vice chairman of the group, Rajan Bharti Mittal, sold his 500-square-foot property in Delhi’s Vasant Vihar for Rs 45 crore in 2022. Sunil Mittal, on the other hand, owns a luxurious mansion in Lutyen’s Delhi with a rumoured value of more than Rs 200 crore. Located in one of India’s most prestigious localities, it is built in a colonial-style aesthetic. Considered one of the most exclusive and expensive addresses in India, 19, Amrita Shergill Marg, Sunil Mittal purchased the bungalow in 2002 for Rs 38 crore.

His global real estate includes several reported residences in London. The family is known to have invested in luxury real estate and private club memberships in Gurugram. However, the private 2 acre mansion on the ‘Billionaires’ Row’ remains his flagship personal residence.
