Cebu is pursuing investments in artificial intelligence security research and development, electric motorcycle battery assembly and light manufacturing, with projects potentially generating jobs as early as 2027.
Global strategist Brian To, consultant to the Cebu provincial government, said several ventures are undergoing due diligence and partnership negotiations following the Cebu Economic Forum 4.0 on Sept. 8 and 9, which drew 515 participants from 13 countries.
One proposed venture involves three startups from Cebu, China and South Korea exploring an AI security research and development center.
Another would initially assemble electric motorcycle batteries before potentially expanding into components and complete vehicles.
