For all the twists and suspenses of Colleen Hoover’s latest film adaptation, “Verity,” the movie’s central filming location is surprisingly zen — at least in real life.
Beckoning Path, the woodsy property that stars as the Crawford family home in Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson’s sexy, new psychological thriller, actually operates as a private wellness retreat in Armonk, New York.
The luxe location has a history of playing hooky for private yoga, forest bathing, and sound healing sessions — all of which “Verity” fans can experience for themselves later this month, with the architectural marvel opening its doors for a 1-day wellness retreat, hosted by Present Wisdom on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Inside the “Verity” house, a real-life wellness escape

See inside Beckoning Path, the real-life “Verity” filming location that’s going viral.
“Verity” tells the story of a struggling writer, Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson), who takes up a job ghostwriting for Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway) — a renowned and reclusive author — at her tucked-away Vermont estate. While engraining herself within Verity’s world, Lowen discovers a chilling manuscript that reveals deadly secrets buried within the author’s past, and finds herself at the center of a complicated family dynamic.
The film’s plot comes to life at the Crawford family’s midcentury-modern house, which in real, is Beckoning Path — an Armonk, New York home dreamed up by Jens Quistgaard, the chief designer of the Scandinavian homeware brand Dansk, for the heritage label’s founders — Martha and Ted Nierenberg.

The house featured in “Verity” is a real New York retreat center.
The exterior of the property is striking, with jagged edges and symmetrical beams that make it feel equal parts fashionable and frightening. The interior of the space adopts the illusion of a retro, 1960s pad set against the backdrop of a lush forest. The contrasts are vivid, the aura is indescribable — and perhaps that’s why it presented as the perfect filming location for “Verity,” a movie that’s far from what it seems.
How to visit the “Verity” house
Unlike Johnson’s character in the film, you can’t take up permanent residence within the “Verity” house (le sigh!) — however, you can still get an up-close look at the estate via any of the wellness retreats that are hosted at the private residence.

Later this month, Present Wisdom is hosting a 6-hour Inner Renewal Fall Yoga & Wellness Retreat at the Armonk property beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24. There, attendees will be able to immerse themselves in the transformative power of yoga, forest bathing, Qigong, meditation, and sound healing.
Unsurprisingly, the retreat is already full; but you can still sign up to join the waitlist and secure a spot at the next Beckoning Path wellness event.
