A Waterloo woman is facing a felony charge after police say she attempted to use counterfeit money at a local business.
Valarie J. Mathieson, 63, of Waterloo, was arrested May 29 and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, according to the Waterloo Police Department.
Police said the charge stems from an incident in which Mathieson allegedly attempted to use fraudulent currency at a business in Waterloo. Additional details about the investigation were not released.
Mathieson was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Waterloo Town Court at 5 p.m. June 17 to answer the charge.
