Stock Market Today Live Updates: Markets end in green; Sensex gains 473 points, Nifty rises 134 points
The recovery was broad-based, with FMCG, energy and banking stocks leading gains. ITC rose 5.08 per cent and was the top Nifty gainer, while BSE, TMPV, Shriram Finance and Bajaj Finance also advanced sharply. On the downside, HCL Tech fell 3.31 per cent, while Max Healthcare, HDFC Bank, Apollo Hospitals and Asian Paints were among the major losers.
Religare Broking’s Ajit Mishra said the market was taking a breather from its recent corrective trend, but cautioned that the broader trend remained weak. Analysts pointed to Brent crude easing from recent highs and softer-than-expected US jobs data as key positive triggers. At the same time, elevated US Treasury yields, continued FII selling and a rupee above Rs 96 per dollar remain overhangs. Analysts expect volatility to continue, with the RBI’s policy stance, crude prices and global bond yields likely to influence the market this week.
