

A BABY has tragically died, with police arresting a woman on suspicion of child neglect.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after a 999 call at 7.30pm on Monday night, when concerns were raised for a child’s welfare.


Tragically the baby, not even one-year-old, was declared dead at the house.
Paramedics then called the police, who arrested a woman in her 30s at the house near the water in Devonport, Plymouth.
She was taken into custody for questioning.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Detectives are investigating the death of a baby in the area of Charles Darwin Road and Pembroke Street last night.
“Officers were called by the ambulance service at 7.30pm on Monday 27 April, after concerns were raised for the child.
“The baby was sadly confirmed deceased at the scene.
“A woman in her 30s has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect. She remains in police custody.
“Enquiries are currently ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the death.”
