Brother’s tribute to woman ‘always willing to help others’ who was found dead at property near Skegness

A murder investigation was launched into the death of Hayley Ann Marson

A brother has paid tribute to his sister who had “a big personality and a heart of gold” after she was found dead at a Lincolnshire property.

Hayley Ann Marson was found dead at a property near Skegness on Tuesday, September 29.

The 33-year-old has been described by her brother, Gareth Slark, as having “a gentle and caring nature” and that she “was always willing to help others.”

The 30-year-old said: “Hayley was a daughter, sister, granddaughter and auntie, and she will be remembered by those who knew and loved her in many different ways.”

Hayley was found at a property on Thames Street, Hogsthorpe, and an investigation is ongoing into her death, with two people being charged with murder.

Mr Slark has created a GoFundMe on behalf of the family to raise funds for Hayley’s funeral and wake.

He stated: “At an already incredibly difficult and emotional time, we want to be able to give Hayley a farewell that celebrates her life and reflects the person she was.”

The family hopes that the farewell will bring together those who loved her the most and give everyone the opportunity to remember her in their own way.

He said: “There were so many things that made Hayley who she was. She loved attending Pride and everything it represented — love, acceptance, happiness and being proud of who you are.

“She enjoyed colouring and being creative, which brought her comfort and happiness.

“And, of course, there was her beloved little dachshund, Dotty. Hayley absolutely adored her, and Dotty was a very special part of her life.”

Mr Slark continued: “Nothing could ever have prepared us for Hayley’s life ending at such a young age and in such heartbreaking circumstances.

“There should have been so many more years ahead of her, more experiences to enjoy and so many more memories still to be made.”

The GoFundMe page has raised more than £350 so far, and the family would like to thank everyone who has sent kind words, reached out, shared memories of Hayley or donated.

Mr Slark said: “The kindness and support shown during such a difficult time is sincerely appreciated.”

He added: “We want Hayley to be remembered for who she was, the things she loved, the memories she created and the life she should have had so much more time to live.”

John Scott, 52, of no fixed address and John Welby, 65, of Thames Street Hogsthorpe, have each been charged with murder after Hayley’s death.

The two men appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday, October 5, and the case has been adjourned to Friday, December 18, for a further plea and trial preparation hearing.
